Adidas Reports Flat Sales and Decreased Operating Profit in 2023

Adidas revealed its 2023 financial results, reporting better-than-expected figures despite a 4.8% drop in net sales from the previous year. The company attributed the decline to the loss of its popular YEEZY line and severing ties with Ye at the end of 2022. However, excluding YEEZY revenues, adidas would have seen a 2% increase in currency-neutral sales.
CEO Bjørn Gulden noted that the company managed to have flat revenues despite the YEEZY loss and a conservative sell-in strategy, achieving an operating profit of €268 million EUR. adidas’ footwear sales increased by 4% on a currency-neutral basis, while accessories were up 3% and apparel fell 3%. Sales decreased in North America and Europe but increased in Latin America, Greater China, and Asia-Pacific.
In the first quarter of 2024, the revenue has already made, but Gulden expect growth to be stronger in the second half of the year.
